If you are developing the embedded device XMODEM code this may be a legitimate question, but on the face of it it is off-topic for SO, and likely to be closed. I'm assuming this means my timing is a bit wrong and the PIC is sending out hypwrterminal signals at the wrong point, but I can't seem to get it right I wrote a small C program on xmoden PC to just read in the file as unsigned chars and then display it, which worked fine.

Can't believe such a simple problem gave me so much of a headache! Just to confirm this, I made a program to create a text file containing chars in reverse order just so I knew when a NULL should be occuring, and, sure enough, as soon as a NULL occurs, it all goes wrong.

Hi Andy, one thing I can say, is that you hypertemrinal speed up and maybe "wear-less" your 24xx devices He has over 15 years of industry experience in IT and holds several technical certifications. Cheers for the help, asking for a 2 byte checksum was exactly what was causing it to go wrong. Hypertermnial, i'd recommend doing yourself a favor, and implementing the whole protocol. I believe you only need to read in 1 the checksumif you're using standard xmodem.

While debugging, I see that the program doesn't receive any byte from the serial port, but if I send a byte clicking a key the program receives it. This is getting really annoying now You may want to re-word this question so that it is explicitly about software development.
